Proudly Serving the Community for 100 Years

Funding

The Pietermariztburg SPCA receives no funding from the government. We do receive from the Municipality which is purely for the running of the pound, but by no means is sufficient to properly benefit animal welfare. We rely soley on the generosity of the public

Our Quest
To continue to assist Animal Welfare and in turn help Communities

If We Had Funding!

We would continue to uphold our quest to promote Animal Welfare throughout underprivileged communities

Proactive Work At Present

  • Sterilization Clinics
  • Primary Health Care
  • Education

Problem Animal Control

Many marauding dogs are attacking and killing people and can spread disease throughout these communities
When we receive calls of such dogs, we work with the communities to alleviate the problem and reduce the high risk of injury or death to people and livestock
These problems result from ignorance, unwanted litters, poverty and other causes.

Sterilization

  • Reduces unwanted litters and diseased animals.
  • This is a serious and well worth 'operation' that directly benefits the community.
  • The prevention is always better than the cure.

Main Emphasis

Educate and assist communities by improving the Welfare of their Animals
PREVENT Cruelty and create basic understanding of animals' needs and the responsibility of the owners to meet those needs.

Sterilization and Primary Health Care

Uncontrolled breeding causes serious problems in communities, sucha as diseases that spread to people (rabies, mange and worms)

Dusi promo video

We had an unbelievable response to the 4 minute video on highlights of the Dusi! In fact so good that we chewed over 300 megs of bandwidth in 6 hours.

Unfortunately we have had to drop the video off the site - please click here
