The following Age Categories apply to the Dusi Canoe Marathon.
NOTE: Entries will only be accepted from qualified paddlers already 15 years of age or older on 1st January in the calendar year of the race.
| U18 | Paddler under the age of 18 years on 1st January |
| U23 | Paddler under the age of 23 years on 1st January (Senior/Student [specific criteria]) |
| Senior | Paddler who is older than 23 years on 1st January and under 35 in the calendar year of the event |
| 35-39 (Sub Veteran) | Paddler who is or turns 35-39 in the calendar year of the event |
| 40-44 (Veteran) | Paddler who is or turns 40-44 in the calendar year of the event |
| 45-49 (Sub Master) | Paddler who is or turns 45-49 in the calendar year of the event |
| 50-54 (Master) | Paddler who is or turns 50-54 in the calendar year of the event |
| 54-59 (Sub Grand Master) | Paddler who is or turns 54-59 in the calendar year of the event |
| 60-64 (Grand Master) | Paddler who is or turns 60-64 in the calendar year of the event |
| 65-69 (Sub Great Grand Master) | Paddler who is or turns 65-69 in the calendar year of the event |
| 70-79 (Great Grand Master) | Paddler who is or turns 70-79 in the calendar year of the event |
| 80+ (Great Great Grand Master) | Paddler who is or turns 80+ in the calendar year of the event |
